My Story & the Origin of Fey Faces

I was born in 1973 in Oxfordshire to a scientific family. I remember as a very young child feeling like I was trapped in a body that didn’t quite belong to me, feeling I was inside it looking out. I would push my forehead into my hand, trying to force my way into my body. I also remember seeing auras around things. When I tried to explain this to my mother, ever the practical person, she would tell me to ‘blink hard and it will go away’! What a shame she didn’t tell me to explore them, I’ve been trying to get that ability back ever since.

I always felt slightly separate and ‘other’ so I was naturally drawn to the alternative communities in my youth. As a teen I would always head to the esoteric section of the bookshop, I didn’t have a clue about the subjects on offer, I just knew this was my space, so I would choose a book at random. I ended up with a varied library of books about aliens, lost civilisations, Celtic mythology and ghost hunting, all of which I devoured.

I was encouraged by my family to follow a ‘sensible’ career and ended up at university studying Public Administration & Human Resource Management. I then spent 20 years in an office job bored out of my mind, but learning useful skills such as finance, record keeping & marketing.

It all changed when I turned 40. I was made redundant, and as I had a young child, I decided to spend some time as a stay at home mum and explore my hobbies a bit more. I started of making jewellery, then fell in love with face painting. I spent the next 13 years as a professional face painter. I called my business Fey Faces Face Painting, because ‘Fey’ is old English for fairy, so it really meant ‘Fairy Faces’.

A couple of years into face painting I realised I needed to have something that would keep me occupied in the week. My daughter was now at school and I couldn’t justify sitting around all day reading & painting. I decided to go back to college and study massage and beauty, then I set up the other side of my business, keeping the same name out if ease.

It was then that I realised I now had a platform for all the esoteric knowledge I had gathered over the years. I had trained in Reiki many years before, so decided to offer that as a treatment. Clients liked it, so it encouraged me to ‘go down the rabbit hole’ and get qualified in all the things I had always been fascinated in. I now have over 80 qualifications in energy healing, hypnotherapy, past life regression, crystals, and many more subjects.

It is now I’m doing the really ‘out there’ work with past life regression and spiritual healing that the varied reading of my youth has really come into its own. I have clients who approach me about a whole range of subjects, often feeling very scared about telling someone in case they look crazy, but to me it is all very familiar. I’ve been able to help clients with their experiences of psychic ability, walk-in’s, spirit guides, aliens, portals and many other subjects.

I love my work and the variety it gives me and now know that this is the work that I was always meant to do. My journey getting here has been a long one, but all of it has given me the experience to run my own business & help people in my own unique way.
