Most of us have heard of the Indian Chakra system, or the Tibetan Dantien’s, but did you know that the Celts referred to a similar energy system?

The Cauldron of Poesy is an early medieval Irish text, dating back to the 7th or 8th century, which refers to the ‘3 Cauldrons’, it describes each cauldron relating to an energy centre of your body.

The first Cauldron is The Cauldron of Warming. It rests at your root at the base of your pelvis. It relates to your past, your ancestors and your safety. It is said that you are born with this in the upright position and it holds your root energy, vitality and connection to the Earth.

The second Cauldron is The Cauldron of Motion. It rests at your heart centre and relates to your love, creativity, desire and inspiration. It is said that you are born with this in the sideways position, and it slowly rights itself as it is filled with your passions.

The third Cauldron is The Cauldron of Wisdom. It rests at your crown, and relates to your wisdom, intuition and divine knowledge. It is said that you are born with this in the inverted position and it gradually turns upright as you gain knowledge, learning and life experience.

This Halloween week it can be a great ritual to sit and meditate on each of these cauldrons.

Sit quietly and spend a few minutes focusing on the Cauldron of Warming in your pelvis. Think about your ancestral roots, your life force and your connection to the earth. When you are ready, visualise filling this cauldron with love and healing.

Next move up to the Cauldron of Motion at your heart centre. Think about your passions… is your cauldron full & upright? Or is it still sitting sideways waiting to be filled? What would you like to fill it with? Visualise filling it with your passions now.

Next move up to the Cauldron of Wisdom at your crown. Think about the life lessons you have learnt, the wisdom you have gained and your connection to the divine. Is your cauldron upright now, or is it still filling? Ask for wisdom and insight to come to you now and allow it to fill the cauldron.

When each of the cauldrons are upright and filled with love, passion and wisdom, picture them in perfect alignment, then bring yourself back to the room.
